what's the first sentence all about? I thought for sure it was in response to a rebus.

Yeah, I puzzled over that rebus of yours for a while, then just gave up and approximated the best I could...
Glad to know it didn't make much sense before either.

Yeah, the starting sentence was "rebuses not welcome here" (red minus d plus buses not well plus comet minus t h plus ear). You got damned close, rubyduby. The "-d" wasn't clear enough on my part. I thought about spelling out plus and minus, but I didn't have enough room.
