DanTheMan please review TSG sentence rules at:
http://www.thesentencegame.com/rules.php
Or alternatively consult:
Carter-Smyth, Steven and Dr Michael Goldstein, eds. The Sentence Game Rules Reconsidered: An Introductory Textbook, Random House (2009), pp. 145-167 (particularly chapters 8-9 on sentence construction procedures).

Yeah, they managed to publish their compendium before I even chose a dustjacket for mine, but I admit their treatment of the subject IS much more evidence-based (which is what a lot of TSG players are looking for), as opposed to the more historico-sociological approach of mine. Even though they are my academic rivals I still recommend their book, especially for DanTheMan.
